National Police Remembrance Day: Monday, September 29

National Police Remembrance Day coincides with Victoria's Blue Ribbon Day and is also dedicated to honouring police officers who have died in the line of duty.

Recent and ongoing events in regional Victoria are a reminder to us all how the nature of police work can be incredibly dangerous.

On September 29 we honour the lives and service of fallen police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty or as a result of their duties. National Police Remembrance Day (NPRD) is a solemn occasion to pay tribute to the courage, commitment, and dedication of police officers who protect our community.

The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation perpetuates the memory of members of the Victoria Police who have died in the line of duty through the support of worthwhile community projects within Victoria.

It aims to encourage the public to remember the sacrifice of officers who have fallen in the line of duty and to show all serving members of Victoria Police that their work and commitment are valued by a caring community.

This year, Victoria Police Legacy has set up a fundraiser to support the victims of the Porepunkah shootings. You can donate at: www.policelegacyvic.org.au
