The Victorian leg of the Rip Curl GromSearch has been moved to January 13 and 14 at Jan Juc.

The previous date was cancelled due to Covid restrictions.

New dates released by Rip Curl and Surfing Victoria include events in Queensland and NSW as well.

With Covid regulations postponing the original dates in September school holidays, Rip Curl, Surfing NSW and Surfing Victoria have worked to secure alternate dates for the respective events, into the new year.

Event organisers said the Rip Curl GromSearch was an iconic series of events for junior surfers that started in Australia and has developed in over 10 other countries, stressing they were committed to continue this focus on development and support of the next generation of surfing talent, whilst following the appropriate Covid regulations and protocol.

“We want to run the Rip Curl GromSearch series whenever we can, so we are committed to finding new dates for the crew in Vic and NSW,” commented Rip Curl marketing manager Angus Forrest.

“It’s been a tough 18 months for everyone, so we’re stoked to work with the states and find a way to run the series. Hopefully it provides a bit of fun for the groms and we score some pumping waves.”

Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said “we are looking forward to bringing back the Rip Curl GromSearch to Victoria”.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding from competitors and parents and look forward to hosting the Rip Curl GromSearch at Jan Juc!”
