Until December 24, the Petstock Foundation’s Christmas Project will be raising $800,000 for its children-focussed charity partners, including VIC based charities, MacKillop Family Services and Very Special Kids.
On December 9 and 10, Petstock in Cowes, along with stores across Victoria will be hosting the Children’s Weekend to help drive donations.
Fun activities for children will take place in-store including a colouring competition, live animals for petting and team members dressing up in Christmas theme.
You can also purchase a Christmas bauble from Petstock, with all funds going towards the The Christmas Project.
From now until Christmas, the Petstock Foundation’s Christmas Project is aiming to raise $800,000 for children experiencing hardship, home instability, serious illness or disability, and empower children through the unconditional love and magic of pets and therapy animals.
Victorian-based charity MacKillop Family Services will benefit from funds raised, enabling them to support students who are disengaged from learning to build their confidence and restore their connections to school with the help of Paw Pals therapy dogs.
Very Special Kids will use its share of funds raised to provide comprehensive allied health services, including their therapy dog program, to children staying at their hospice, Very Special Kids House.
Christmas can be a challenging time of year for many people experiencing hardship. The latest statistics tell us there are an estimated 9146 children in Victoria in out of home care, who are unable to live safely with their own families.
In addition, there are an estimated 8976 children and young people living with life-limiting conditions in Australia. These statistics alone are just a small example of community needs for extra support, and many children need our support to fight for their future.
Visit your local Petstock store to support your local community or visit petstock.com.au for more information – 100 per cent of funds raised goes to the Christmas Project’s charities.
