Newhaven College students have raised raise over $14,000 for Bali Children Foundation (BCF), through the Year 12 Leadership's fundraising.
Each year, Newhaven College Year 12 Leadership selects a charity for the College to support. This year, Bali Children Foundation (BCF) was chosen.
Since starting in 2002, Bali Children Foundation has helped thousands of children living in remote areas of Bali complete their education, find employment, and improve the lives of not only themselves but also their families and the wider communities.
The foundation is currently working to expand its reach to Sumba, an island in the far east of Indonesia.
The Year 12 Leadership team led the College community to raise $14,198 for this worthy cause and were delighted with the participation and enthusiasm from students, staff and parents right across the school. This was the largest amount raised in College fundraising history, so the captains were thrilled with the result.
The fundraising events included dress up days, Year 12 trivia night, a Movie Night and raffles for an official team-signed Western Bulldogs guernsey and five nights' accommodation in Bali.
The College Parents and Friends Association also helped out at some of the fundraising events.
At the Year 12 final assembly, 2025 College Captains Gabriel Di Falco and Abby Papas, presented a cheque to BCF representative, Mr Patrick Barry. Mr Barry gratefully accepted the cheque, commending the Year 12 Leadership team for their hard work and the outstanding result they achieved.
Earlier in the year, the Founder and CEO of Bali Children Foundation, Margaret Barry, visited the Year 12 Leadership team to explain the benefits that would result from the fundraising dollars.
"Thank you, Newhaven College students, your fundraising is educating and preparing Bali's children for lifelong success." Margaret said.
Principal Mr Tony Corr expressed his admiration for this year's fundraising efforts, stating, "Our Year 12 student leaders chose the Bali Children Foundation for 2025 because so many in our community enjoy holidaying in Bali, and would like to give something back.
I am incredibly impressed and proud of our students' dedication to fundraising in such a meaningful area. They deserve to be congratulated."
The 2026 charity will be decided by the incoming Year 12 Leadership team early next year.
