Scope’s team of experienced therapists use a variety of strategies and therapeutic activities in natural environments such as school, kinder and the community to help children increase their participation in everyday activities.

One of Australia’s largest providers of disability support services has opened rooms in Cowes.

Scope, now established in Warley Avenue, has been providing individual therapy support to people of all ages and their families for over 70 years.

It is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to support people with physical, intellectual and multiple disabilities by helping them achieve their goals.

“We’re passionate about providing high-quality and individualised support, currently helping more than 6000 individuals and their families across Victoria and employing over 1800 staff members,” said Melissa Barnes, Scope Team Leader and Speech Pathologist here.

“Our therapy team are dedicated to helping your child achieve their goals in everyday life.

“We work very closely with you to understand these goals and build their skills and confidence to take part in everyday activities.”

Melissa said Scope’s team of experienced therapists use a variety of strategies and therapeutic activities in natural environments such as school, kinder and the community to help children increase their participation in everyday activities.

“We work together with families and children to develop a plan that helps them reach their goals in achieving independence in everyday routines and activities.

“Our therapists work alongside the other important people in a child’s life, such as extended family, their kinder, school teachers and support workers, to build the skills of each child’s support network.

“Our priority is to help your child build the skills and confidence to take part in everyday activities. We love to see them thrive.”

See the person

“We see the person. This is the heart of Scope. It guides everything we do.

“It’s how we deliver services,” Melissa said.

“We are one of Australia’s leading providers of support services for adults and children with disabilities, autism or developmental delays.

“We work with corporate and community organisations, to create a more inclusive society for people with a disability.

“Our mission is to enable each person to live as an empowered and equal citizen.”

Scope was founded more than 70 years ago by families who wanted better support for their children.

Today, it is one of the largest not-for-profit disability service providers in Australia, supporting thousands of people with complex intellectual, physical, and multiple disabilities.

Its great team of people includes specialists in communication and positive behaviour support, dedicated to working in partnership with its clients and their families.

They know the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and have supported people to successfully move to this new system since it began in 2013.

Scope has been active in research for more than 30 years and this helps deliver the positive outcomes it achieves.

Scope has also led the way in working with the wider community to remove barriers to social inclusion.
