Throughout term three all of the students at Our Lady Star of the Ssea have been looking at ‘how one person can make a difference’.

Earlier this month, prep students took advantage of the sunshine to hand-deliver letters to neighbourhood businesses in Thompson Avenue, thanking the shop keepers for making a difference in their lives.

The school said the goal of the excursion was to make sure “we thanked the people who serve us every day when we go shopping”.

Students were able to demonstrate their gratitude to some of the people who make a difference in their lives, visiting Turn the Page bookstore, Youki’s Sushi Shop, Coffee Co., Phillip Island Bakery, Bass Coast Shire Council, Tenpin Bowling, Mitre 10 and Bakers Delight.

Ryan M thanked Caitlin in a letter to Coffee Co. for making his mum's coffee every morning. Several kids, including Mia, Savannah, Jackson, Jaxavier, and Dion wrote to Youki's Sushi Shop to express their gratitude for the delicious lunch orders they deliver to the school.

Blake and Riane expressed their gratitude to Brendan for providing our school with lovely books for our library in a letter to Turn the Page Bookshop.

Caden expressed his gratitude for the delicious food in his lunch box in a letter to his mother, who works at the Phillip Island Bakery, while Lucas expressed his appreciation to the council for the green bin liners in our school.

The last stop on the excursion was at Bakers Delight, where the prep students thanked all of the staff for the lovely bread teachers use to make fairy bread whenever they have a class celebration.

Bakers Delight set up a table for the preps to decorate some delicious sticky buns, which was a lovely surprise for the students, who iced them and then doused them in 100s and 1000s.

Everyone then sat happily outside in the bright sunshine and ate their delicious sticky buns.

After walking from the Erehwon Point Park, the preps were so exhausted teachers delivered their letters to Mitre 10 and the Bowling Alley later that day.
