On track for a very special day
Come and enjoy a family friendly day at this beautiful country racecourse on April 1, and raise money for the Phillip Island Health Hub and the future Community Hospital.

For the fourth year in a row, the Woolamai Race Course is helping to raise money for the Phillip Island Health Hub and the future Phillip Island Community Hospital.

The Phillip Island Health Hub Auxiliary has joined forces with the Woolamai and District Racing Club for a race day, on Saturday April 1, to raise funds for medical services on Phillip Island.

The racing club will donate $5 from every general admission ticket to the Phillip Island Health Hub.

Gill Scrase, one of the auxiliary’s tireless volunteers, said the group was grateful for the continued support of the Woolamai Racing Club and was excited the race day this year was on a Saturday for the first time.

“We are hoping the local community will once again get behind the event and enjoy a family friendly day at this beautiful country race course,” Gill said.

Dedicated

The Health Hub Auxiliary was formed more than four years ago and is driven by a small and dedicated group of volunteers. Monies raised have been allocated to a range of medical services and equipment.

Recent fundraising projects have been a dinner at Mon Dieu, trash and treasure stall at Rhyll Community markets and an Antiques Appraisal Day in February.

“The Hub Auxiliary is encouraged by the ongoing positive feedback from the community and visitors who have visited the Urgent Care Centre and used the services at the Hub including visiting specialists, of whom there are an increasing number,” Gill said.

“As well as facilities at the Hub, locals are grateful for the increased resources at Bass Coast Health such at the L Rigby Cancer Centre, so they don’t have to travel to Melbourne for treatment.

Chemotherapy chairs will be available at the Phillip Island Community Hospital when it opens in 2024.

“The upgraded facilities give people a lot of confidence in the delivery of local medical services.”

The Phillip Island Health Hub Race Day this year is sponsored The Big Wave, No Fuss Events Hire, Bass Strait Direct, Johnston and Friends, Performance Property Advisory and Friends and family of Johnny Gayfer.

“We especially thank Performance Property Advisory who are sponsoring for the fourth year in a row and The Big Wave who are sponsoring us for the third year in a row,” Gill said.
