Overseas or interstate during the 2026 Victorian state election?
Away on election day? Find out where and how you can vote in the upcoming Victorian election.
Here’s what you can do.
Eligible Victorians will be able to vote in the 2026 state election from places as far as Dublin and as remote as Antarctica, with in-person and postal voting options available for those unable to attend a voting centre in Victoria.
In-person voting services for Victorians overseas during the election will return for the first time since 2018, after COVID-19 restrictions prevented the service from operating in 2022. Voters will be able to vote in-person in 21 countries, or request their ballot papers by email, to print and return to Victoria via mail or at selected in-person locations.
Interstate voters can cast their vote at any Australian state or territory electoral commission during business hours from Friday November 20 to Friday November 27.
Electoral Commissioner Sven Bluemmel said Victorians travelling within the state will also be able to cast their vote in-person from any voting centre during the election, vote during the early voting period or register for a postal vote on the VEC website.
‘Voting in the state election is compulsory for all eligible Victorians, so we’re making it as easy as possible with a voting option for everyone,’ Mr Bluemmel said.
‘If you’re travelling on Saturday 28 November, you can choose to vote early, register for a postal vote or access in-person voting, including our interstate and overseas voting options. Plan ahead and make sure your voice is heard.’
A list of interstate and overseas voting and vote drop-off points can be found on the VEC’s Voting Centre Locator application at maps.vec.vic.gov.au/elections
