A record-breaking $3342 was raised at the Palm Lake Resort’s Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea on May 25.
Over one hundred residents and friends enjoyed a wonderful morning tea supporting the Cancer Council of Victoria’s 30th anniversary of running the event.
Palm Lake Resort have been running fund raising efforts to support the Cancer Council for about half that time. Funds raised at these events go to research and assisting those with cancer – an insidious disease which has affected one in three people.
The morning’s activities included a mega-raffle with first prize a hamper of groceries valued at over $200. This was won by one of the resort’s residents who did not want to take her prize, so it was decided to donate the groceries to PICAL to add to their food pantry for the needy.

In addition to the first prize, over 50 minor prizes were also distributed.
Organisers of the event said they were very grateful to all the local shopkeepers for their support in donating gifts and vouchers for the raffle.
“We are indeed very lucky to live in such a generous community, for without the benefit of all the donations we received we would not have been able to offer such mouth-watering prizes.”
As well as the delicious morning tea enjoyed by all, there were many games, including guessing the weight of the fruit cake, silent auction, lucky number and count the choccie bullets which all helped raise funds.
