As part of a state government investment to upgrade road safety infrastructure, $675,000 has been allocated to upgrades in Cowes.

Member for Bass, Jordan Crugnale said the project areas included:

  • Chapel Street/Dunsmore Road
  • Church Street near Park Street and
  • Church Street near Berninneit/Transit Centre/Community Hospital.

Ms Crugnale said the $675,000 safety upgrade in Cowes is one of twenty-six projects funded in Victoria and will include the construction of shared paths, alterations to islands and raised priority crossings.

“The works earmarked will benefit community members that use, walk or ride to and through the Cowes Recreation Reserve and also in and around Berninneit, Transit Centre and the Phillip Island Community Hospital,” she said.

“I want to thank Bass Coast Council for applying for our grant, recognising the pedestrian safety need in the area and in turn supporting the school and wider community.”
