Australia Day Winners
We held a very successful Australia Day club event. The members were dressed in Aussie attire, “fines” issued for not complying with donations to RCH Appeal.
It was a fun day with a sausage sizzle for lunch.
We played Pairs of 4 games 8 ends. Winners were Chris Fricke and Julie Pora.
Barefoot Bowls continued during the week, with visitors making the most of the last week of holidays and fine weather.
Corporate bowls is quite competitive.
Winners: DTM Bulldogs. Runners-up: Goodie Chalkies.
Saturday Pennant results.
Division 1 Blue, defeated Leongatha Gold 95 to 50.
Division 1 White lost to Leongatha Green 93 to 46.
Division 2, Defeated Fish Creek 90 to 53.
Division 3, Defeated Meeniyan 75 to 48.
Division 5, Defeated San Remo [2] 85 to 50.
On Sunday Korumburra hosted SGBD and State finals.
Phillip Island Four’s with team of Skip, Russell May, Bob Anketell, Glen Cohen and Kevin Wagner, were defeated by a team from Wonthaggi, but were very competitive.
The Pairs were runners up represented by Arthur Denny and Hans Olierook; they lead most of the game but were finally defeated.
Robyn Dennis lost to Rosa James in the Ladies semi-final.
Midweek bowls reconvenes this week.
The 28th Autumn Bowling Carnival Begins on Monday, April 26 to Sunday, May 2.
