Phillip Island Jazz - The Jackson Four
Phillip Island Jazz presents the Jackson Four at the Phillip Island Bowling Club on Sunday, December 18, from 2pm - 4.30pm.
Vocals and Percussion - Front man, soul and jazz singer, Peter Jackson has performed with Paul Kelly, The Australian Blues Brothers Show’, ‘Grand Wazoo’, ‘The Swing Genies’ with Annette Jenko - Yates (double bass). As well as other funk, soul and jazz bands on the Australian circuit. Peter’s percussion adds a touch of Latin rhythms and style on the congas and Latin hand instruments.
Drums - Nick Mierisch has been the rhythmic force behind many jazz and soul funk bands around town over the last 30 years and has consistently performed with Jeff and Peter over that time.
Hammond Organ – Jon Wade, originally from the U.K., and now a Bass Coast local, is one of Australia’s most talented and virtuoso Hammond organ and piano players. Jon has previously performed as part of the George Golla Trio, Ed Wilson Band ( AKA Daly Wilson), The National Youth Jazz Orchestra UK. He was also Musical Director for 70s and 80s pop diva Kiki Dee. Jon brings his energetic style and love and of the great Blues and jazz Hammond and piano masters to the band.
Sax - Jeff Mead is one of Melbourne’s most in-demand players. Besides featuring in some of Melbourne’s top swing big bands, including the Westernport Big Band, Jeff has also played over the years respectively in The Andrea Marr and Wayne Jury bands as well as other Blues acts.
Venue - Phillip Island Bowling Club, 40 Dunsmore Rd, Cowes commencing at 2pm. Cost of entry is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for visitors.
