There are considerable benefits to a Landcare membership.

In 2023 Phillip Island Landcare Group (PILG) was successful in applying for the Westernport Water Community Support Program.

The group was supported with $1360 to purchase 800 tube stock plants from the Barb Martin Bushbank. These plants are membership plants and are given out, 20 per member, as part of your membership package.

Membership plants are generally available for pick up from May to August. All the plants purchased from the Bushbank are indigenous plants to the island. Both Landcare and Westernport Water support the growth of indigenous plants as they can survive in our local environment with minimal or no watering required.

In addition to the 20 membership plants, with the recent release of "The field guide to native flora of Millowl (Phillip Island)" PILG has a special discount offer for new and renewing members.

"The field guide to native flora of Millowl (Phillip Island)" is an exceptional book written by Mitch Burrows with illustrator Tegan Carter completing all drawings by hand. The field guide is a complete current list of all indigenous flora on Millowl. The book retails at $40 however that price is reduced by $15 with a PILG membership.

Membership of PILG is now more attractive thanks to the local support of Westernport Water, Mitch Burrows and Tegan Carter.

For further information on all the above please go to www.phillipislandlandcare.org.au.

Once online you may wish to check out two other programs offered by the group. There are the Home Garden Visits that are complimentary for members. The Home Garden Visit is for urban members who want advice on establishing or improving their garden. Another program is the Island Bush Care program. This is an opportunity for anyone to have a direct impact in revegetating Phillip Island. In partnership with Phillip Island Landcare Group, indigenous trees will be purchased and planted on selected land. As an Island Bush Carer, the contribution you make goes towards purchase of trees and reduces your impact on the environment.
