After two years without a quilt display, Phillip Island Patchworkers are back and looking forward to showcasing quilts and associated crafts.

They would love to have you visit.

The display will be open from Saturday October 29, through to Tuesday, November 1 from 10am to 4pm at the Newhaven Hall, Cleeland Street Newhaven.

There will be the many fine pieces of patchwork made by this group of talented ladies, and the wonderful work produced by the Wonthaggi Woodcrafters will also be on display.

Jeanette Clark from Patchwork Maze will also have a shop set up where you can purchase a range of patchwork fabrics, patterns and accessories.

Jeanette is a fabulous supporter of the group and every year organises a pattern and donates the fabric for the group to create raffle quilts. Members will also be sewing quilts for the Comfort Quilt program which will be donated to community members in need.

There will be a trading table with lots of goodies to purchase, and the famous Devonshire Tea available for $5.

Entry is $5 with all profits going directly to local emergency services.

“We have not been able to donate to our emergency services for the last two years but we are hoping to be able to do so again this year, to help support their fabulous community work,” Patchworkers President Gayle Rowden said.

“Our patchwork group is 37 years old and we have 159 members in all age groups. There are several of our founding members who are still with the group.

“Our love of craft and friendship is what brings us together. We all enjoy what we do, we like to share skills and of course have a chat.

“This year, because our meetings are spread throughout the month, we initiated a Saturday Sit and Sew on the first Saturday of the month at Newhaven Hall and it is very popular. BYO lunch and mug.

“Come along and join in the fun and friendship – new members are warmly welcomed.”

If you would like more information or would like to join – please contact President Gayle Rowden on 0400 634 282 or catch up with one of the members on Cup Weekend.
