The third Put Your Foot Down Community Walk on Phillip Island is on November 22, starting from the Phillip Island Bowling Club, to raise funds and awareness for pancreatic cancer.

Phillip Island is a community that knows how to get behind a good cause. This November, locals are being invited to come together once again for the third annual Put Your Foot Down Community Walk, raising vital funds and awareness for pancreatic cancer.

Hosted by Phillip Island local Kirri Harvey, the walk will take place on Sunday November 22, with a new home this year at the Phillip Island Bowling Club.

The Bowling Club is no stranger to supporting the cause, having previously held its own fundraiser for Pankind. Now, it will provide the start and finish point for a day that has quickly become a special fixture on the local calendar.

And the community spirit won’t stop at the finish line. After the walk, everyone is invited to stay on at the Bowling Club for a sausage sizzle and raffles, giving walkers, families and supporters a chance to catch up, enjoy the day and continue raising funds for the cause.

Across the first two Phillip Island walks, more than 150 people have taken part and over $24,000 has been raised. This year, the community is aiming even higher, with a goal to reach $35,000.

For Kirri, the cause is deeply personal. Her husband Andrew passed away after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and she has since dedicated herself to raising greater awareness of the disease.

But the Phillip Island walk has become something much bigger than one person’s story.

It is an opportunity for the whole community to stand alongside families affected by pancreatic cancer and help create change.

And if the past two years have shown anything, it’s that Phillip Island knows how to show up.

Neighbours, families, friends, local businesses and community groups have all played a part in the walk’s success.

Every person who joins in, shares the event, buys a raffle ticket or raises a few dollars adds to that collective effort.

Funds raised through Put Your Foot Down help Pankind support pancreatic cancer research and programs for people impacted by the disease.

It’s a serious cause, but the walk itself is about connection, hope and what can happen when a community comes together.

So pull on your walking shoes, bring your family and friends, and help Phillip Island make its third walk the biggest yet.

And when the walking is done, stick around for a sausage, try your luck in the raffles and enjoy some time together at the Bowling Club.
