Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre (PICAL) is calling on locals to join an information session that aims to bring the much-loved Fix-it Cafe back to life.

If you have a passion for repairing, tinkering or simply helping others you're invited to the information session which will take place at 1pm on Sunday December 7 at 16 Warley Avenue, Cowes.

The session will give community members the chance to learn how they can help rebuild an initiative that saves money, reduces waste and brings people together.

"Here at PICAL we're committed to building a connected, resourceful and resilient community," explains Kerryn Ladell, Assistant Centre Manager at PICAL.

"We create opportunities for people to learn, contribute and feel part of something bigger - the Fix-it Cafe is one of the many ways we bring this to life.

"Whether you're a repair whiz, a curious learner or just love a cuppa while chatting about tools and tricks, this session is for you. We'll cover how the Fix-it Cafe works, what's needed to get it up and running again and the many ways people can lend a hand - from sewing to soldering," adds Kerryn.

PICAL hopes to relaunch the Fix-it Cafe as a monthly Sunday event, running for three hours and supported by skilled volunteers.

"We'd love to offer stations for electrical items, bikes, sewing repairs and more - it all depends on the skills the community brings to the table," Kerryn concludes.

The information session will outline plans, answer questions and gather expressions of interest from volunteers and supporters. The broader community is also encouraged to attend to show demand for a revived Fix-it Cafe.
