PICAL has opened a pop up kitchen at their Church Street premises in Cowes, with free hot meals being given to anyone who would like one.

And the message is, come on down.

For the local community, heading into a second day without power, a warm meal is just what is needed!

When some of the frozen meals from the PICAL pantry thawed in the power outage, the idea of the pop-up kitchen was born.

A team of volunteers swung into action, heating up the barbeques to reheat the delicious dinners.

The local supermarkets jumped on board, donating meat for the bbq, while Bimbadeen farm dropped by with a whole crate of eggs.

A generous local also loaned PICAL a generator, to prevent losing any more meals or frozen food from the emergency food pantry.

"We just want to say thank you to everyone one who has dropped in to help out," said a PICAL spokesperson.

With many homes still without power, and some items in short supply in supermarkets, anyone needing warm food, a hot drink, or even a chat with a friendly local, is urged to drop by.

PICAL is located at 56-58 Church Street, Cowes.
