Jenny Lonergan, Acting Secretary, and Peter Paul, President, said PIMHAG received a grant of $4900 from FRRR for a Mental Health First Aid course on October 8 and 9.

Phillip Island Medical and Health Action Group (PIMHAG) is offering a special mental health first aid course next month.

The two-day course on October 8 and 9, at the Phillip Island RSL has been subsidised by a grant, reducing the cost to $30 per person.

Participation is limited to 24 persons and applicants must be able to complete the two full days on October 8 and 9, for certification.

Peter Paul, President, and Jenny Lonergan, Acting Secretary, said they are excited that PIMHAG was able to present the Standard Mental First Aid course (MHFA).

“The course is being presented in conjunction with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), and Latrobe Regional Health,” Peter said.

“This course is for adults to assist adults, and follows our very successful Mental Health forums in September 2024 and February 2025.

“Normally the (MHFA) course would cost $80 for community groups, but with our successful grant of $4900 from FRRR, the cost has been reduced to $30.

“We are very appreciative of the Phillip Island RSL providing their facilities in order to undertake the course.”
