Power saving bonus a win for local families
Over 12,000 people in the Bass electorate have applied in the latest round of the Power Saving Bonus.
Over 12,000 people in the Bass electorate have applied in the latest round of the Power Saving Bonus from the state government.
The government said more than one million households had received $250 through the fourth round of the scheme.
The current round opened on March 24 and by April 19, there were 12,045 Bass electorate residents who had applied through the Victorian Energy Compare website, said local MP, Jordan Crugnale.
“We have been very busy, had so many wonderful conversations and supported over 400 of our much-loved community members with their applications.” Ms Crugnale said.
“We are also going out to community groups, clubs and markets right across the electorate.
“We totally understand the cost-of-living pressures facing so many of our community members and this is one of many initiatives that we hope helps family budgets in some way.”
If you don’t have internet access or need assistance, you can drop by Ms Crugnale’s office at 9 McBride Avenue, Wonthaggi on a Wednesday or Thursday and her team can assist with the application.
In addition, local neighbourhood houses are also helping members of the community for free.
The Energy Assistance Program – a free service providing energy consumers experiencing hardship with one-on-one assistance – has helped over 500 applicants.
Ms Crugnale said Victorians can also save on their household energy bills through the $1.3 billion Solar Homes Program. Households that accessed both solar panel and hot water rebates saved up to $,500 on their annual energy bill.
