With the finals just around the corner, the Bulldogs decided to put the pedal to the metal and show the opposition no mercy, and that’s exactly what they did.
In brilliant sunshine, Tully Dickie opened the scoring for the Islanders after some brilliant team football and brought up the first goal.
After that, the Islanders took complete control with well drilled football on every line.
The backline was impassable led by James McKelvy and repelled any semblance of an attack by Bunyip ably assisted by Tom Niven
Jack Papas controlled the centre with a fine captain’s game and together with Brady Ross and Ben Taylor kicked the ball forward at every opportunity.
Going into the long break, the Islanders had a 72-point lead, but the coaches urged the players to “go for the jugular” and drive home their superiority, which they did for the rest of the game.
Next week the Islanders play Korumburra/Bena in the last game before the finals with all players looking forward to repeating this week’s dominant performance.
