Island netballers face off against Cora Lynn - C Grade
Phillip Island: 31 def Cora Lynn: 26.
C Grade had a great team game.
Currently sitting tenth, we defeated Cora Lynn who sits fifth.
It was an intense game for three quarters with goal for goal and every single player playing their best.
Our defensive pressure was insane and consistent for all four quarters.
Our defenders Chloe, Tayla and Karina worked overtime and were heavily backed by our wings in Tori, Nikki, Rose and our new recruit Hallie.
Lawri's goals were on fire with the support of Poppy for the first three quarters, they both rebounded well.
Movement up and down the court was beautiful to watch with some set plays and long hard throws from the centre third by our fierce leader Tori were game changers.
However, we started to slip towards the end of the third and it looked like all our hard work was about to be taken away from us.
Until a genius move by the coach at three-quarter time, with zippy midfielder Rose put into GA with no prior warning or practice.
She was told she had one job, and that was to quickly get the ball to our new super shooter, Lawri.
Everyone was extremely nervous, especially from the support crew, and thought the coach had gone mad!
But it paid off and the coach could hardly contain her pride in her team.
The coach's faith in her players was the game changer and especially Rose who stood up to the challenge and proved what a versatile, reliable, team player she is.
We took the lead back and won by five.
Overall, it was a great consistent day, proving what a great little team we've become all playing as one.
Everyone is committed and eager to win and the results are starting to show on the board.
Awards: Rose Van Rooy and Poppy Marshall.
