This year’s Second-Hand Book Sale held by Melaleuca Auxiliary has broken all records.

A very successful and busy January saw $12,936.95 raised during the sale.

This brings the total raised for the year to $30,796.85.

The second-hand book shed started in 1992, after the formation of the Melaleuca Auxiliary, largely thanks to the efforts of the book shed’s namesake, the late Bill Hopkins.

His legacy lives on through this wonderful fundraiser. The total amount raised since starting is over $503,000 and these funds go to Melaleuca Aged Care.

Thank you to the wonderful volunteers and the donations by community members, local and from people who holiday here.

The summer sale was open every day from 10am –1pm during January. The book shed will now return to its normal hours of every Saturday from 10am –12pm.

Donations are welcome and maybe left at the book shed.

Unfortunately, the shed does not accept magazines or encyclopedias. Books must be in clean and saleable condition.

“Once again thank you to everyone that supported our sale, we look forward to another successful year,” said the book sale organisers.
