Refugee Week in 2026 is celebrated from June 14 - 20, with the theme "a million stories".
Since World War II, Australia has responded to the international call to offer a place to call home to those who have no home or have fled persecution or death.
Since that time, almost 80 years, we have offered permanent visas or citizenship to over a million people from all over the world.
There are a million stories behind these numbers.
Each story ripples through and shapes our communities that we know today.
Whether in culture, food, friendship, or community activities, we and they are the richer for it.
And it's not without challenges for the refugees and for us.
Rural Australians for Refugees are holding a Soup and Slice Lunch in St John's Uniting Church hall on Friday June 19, at 12.30 pm.
