The $3.35 million, 360-metre wall in Cowes east was built as erosion defence in 2022. A new report states while sea walls may protect what is behind them, beach erosion can still occur, deflecting wave energy to adjacent properties. "The era of routine armour emplacement is coming to an end," it states.
