The final stage of the Rhyll playground will be finished after Bass Coast Shire councillors last week approved a tender.

Planned Constructions Pty Ltd will deliver stage two of the playspace, next to the upgraded boat ramp, which will cost more than $356,000.

Cr Ronnie Bauer explained that last year due to budgetary pressures and cost blow outs “that have impacted so many of our capital works” the shire opted to spread the rollout of the playground over several years.

“I commend officers for finding a way to finish the playground over two budget cycles rather than the initially proposed three,” Cr Bauer said.

Cr Les Larke voted against the spend, saying some of the money was coming from council reserves “which was an illusion”.
