Rhyll ramp to open next week
Fishing and boating Minister Sonia Kilkenny and State Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale visited the Rhyll boat ramp on Thursday ahead of its opening. They are pictured with David Vaea (Bass Coast Shire), Simpson Construction team’s Sean Beams, Andrew Simpson, Tim McMahon, Kevin Logan and James Kelly from the shire.

The Rhyll boat ramp will re-open next week - just in time for snapper season - after a seven-month redevelopment.

Line marking and asphalting of the main carpark will be undertaken over the next week to complete the project, with the ramp opening to boaters in time for school holidays.

To celebrate the opening of the ramp, there will be a free fishing and boating festival along the foreshore on Saturday September 17 from 10am, with live music, markets, and kids fishing clinics, with 10 places available in each session and bookings essential.

The $4.5 million upgrade of the ramp started in February and has included the replacement of the existing three-lane boat ramp with new concrete panels and extension of the lanes deeper into the water – enabling all-tide access.

Additional works formed stage one of construction in 2021, including the installation of new fixed and floating pontoon jetties to assist with launching and retrieval, an improved parking layout and longer car and trailer bays.

There will be new fish cleaning tables and a dedicated kayak/yacht/canoe launching area.
