Rhyll resident Jude Mayall is joining 19,897 registered Biggest Morning Tea hosts across the country to host a Biggest Morning Tea in Rhyll on June 3.

Cancer Council's Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, which runs throughout May and June, raises vital funds for cancer research, prevention, and support for the one in two Australians impacted by cancer during their lifetime.

One Australian is diagnosed with cancer about every five minutes, the length of the average tea break.

Rhyll's Mechanic's Hall is the venue for what promises to be a delicious retro-themed repast of homecooked fare, with Aussie favourites such as lamingtons, jelly cakes, and macaroons.

There will be scones, naturally, served with all the trimmings. And no morning tea is complete without dainty sandwiches.

A lifelong cook, Jude grew up on a citrus orchard.

"I was bought up cooking. My mother was an amazing cook who ran her own catering business," Jude said.

Jude is the owner of Outback Chef one of Australia's leading suppliers of native ingredients, and the author of The Outback Chef.

The secret is also out that Jude is a trained confectioner, who studied in Germany and worked making delectable confectionary in Australia.

Jude decided to host an Australia's Biggest Morning Tea because "most Australians are touched by cancer in some shape of form, including me," she said.

"A morning tea is a lovely way to bring people together, and even better when it's raising money for a really worthy cause."

And the money raised by Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Teas, now in its 33rd year, is inspiring: last year Biggest Morning Tea hosts raised more than $16 million.

Over the years, Cancer Council has raised more than $200 million.

"We hope to raise as much money as possible at Rhyll's Biggest Morning Tea on June 3 and be part of Cancer Council's goal to raise more than $17 million this year for its crucial work," said Jude.

Rhyll's Biggest Morning Tea will be held from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Wednesday June 3.

Entry is by donation, and everyone is welcome.

Those who can't make and would like to can donate via the QR code, linked directly to the Cancer Council's account on Australia's Biggest Morning Tea posters.
