Ross River cases continue

A holiday homeowner from San Remo joins the list of people diagnosed with Ross River virus.

Scott, who lives in the Macedon Ranges contacted the Advertiser last week after he was diagnosed.

He said he spent the last half of December and most of January in San Remo and on Phillip Island.

“In January, I felt generally unwell, with fatigue, joint pain, cold-like symptoms and lack of concentration.”

When he went home, he saw his doctor who ordered a series of blood tests.

Scott said he requested a Ross River virus test, “which I never would have asked for had it not been for your article”.

“The doctor was reluctant to give this, and weeks later has called and informed me that I have had Ross River virus.”

Scott is the third non-resident to contact the Advertiser saying they contracted the disease after visiting Phillip Island over summer.

This is in addition to the 15 Ross River virus cases the Department of Health has confirmed in Bass Coast.
