It's been a safe start to the 2024 summer season for the Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
Since patrols started at the beginning of November, there have been no rescues at local beaches.
However volunteer and paid lifesavers have conducted 1183 preventative actions, had five minor and two major first aid incidents.
It's estimated during that time there were over 4300 beachgoers.
When not on patrols, members have kept busy training the team and welcoming new members to the club.
]"We recently conducted multiple Bronze camps, welcoming more members in the club made up of both locals and Melbourne based candidates," a club spokesperson said.
"This awesome group of trainers devoted their time and energy to ensuring our lifesavers are well trained and ready to keep our beaches safe."
Woolamai, Smiths Beach and Cowes foreshore all have life savers on duty between 10am and 6pm seven days a week, through until January 26.
These times may be subject to change and you can find the latest information on the Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club's Facebook page. www.facebook.com/woolamaibeachslsc
Anyone visiting beaches this summer is reminded to keep safe by:
- swimming at patrolled beaches and times only
- swimming between the red and yellow flags
- using the beach safe phone app to add another safety element
