Bass Coast College San Remo Campus has acknowledged Reconciliation Week in their classrooms, mentor groups and lunchtime activities.

Some of the activities included students exploring indigenous musicians and analysing the messages in the lyrics.

All students contributed to creating a banner for the Reconciliation Bridge walk which will now be carried at the walk in July.

The Reconciliation Week theme continued in the school library, with indigenous authors and stories featured and Indigenous movies shown at recess and lunch.

Mentor groups worked on activities based on the purpose of Reconciliation Week and ways in which it can be celebrated. Students decorated the rooms with handprints and messages about the importance of reconciliation.

On June 16 Bass Coast College will hold a Campfire Conversation for Indigenous families and their supports.

The focus of this discussion is Self-determination in Education.
