Holistic therapy for the body, mind and spirit

Ayurvedic is the most ancient type of healing.

“Ayur” means life and “Veda” means knowledge. Together it forms Ayurveda which in Sanskrit is, “Science of Life”.

The ancient sages of India found the answers to good health and longevity through meditation and the use of herbs that grew around the Himalayas and other parts of India. They have been practising this science in India for centuries.

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant Shirani said when invasions occurred the science was pushed back but now it is revived more than any other type of healing in the world.

“These days you see advertisements on television for products such as Turmeric and Ashwagandha and its medicinal benefits,” Shirani said.

“This is not new to most Indians and/or Sri Lankans as our forefathers have used these medicinal plants for centuries before the West ever knew of their existence.”

At Santhosa Ayurvedic Healing, Shirani is introducing this authentic and traditional type of healing to Bass Coast and Gippsland.

“I have gained my qualifications through the Australian Institute of Ayurveda and have had some experiences studying in India.”

Treatments on offer address a range of issues, including:

• PMS
• Menopause
• Mental illness
• Bowel ailments
• Insomnia
• Asthma
• Skin diseases
• Anxiety and depression
• Low back pain

“I also provide body work therapies to complement the remedies that I offer,” Shirani said.

“These include medicated oil massages, including head massage; Shirodhara – medicated oil pouring on the forehead and; Marma point massage.”

Shirani said she offers individualised service for every client.

“I do a thorough analysis of your body type, tongue, lifestyle, diet, pulse and offer a plan with some remedies and tweaking of existing habits.

“There’s no magic involved but you will need to give it a 100 per cent commitment.”
