Scenic Estate clean up
On Sunday May 3, Friends of Scenic Estate Reserve volunteers tackled invasive species in the reserve. The next working bee is scheduled for July 5.

On Sunday May 3, Friends of Scenic Estate Reserve volunteers braved the wet conditions to tackle invasive species such as Flaxleaf Fleabane, Ox Tongue Thistle, Fog Grass, and Gorse.

The hard work resulted in two consolidated bags of weeds, which were left for council to collect, as arranged.

The focus was on the front area of the Reserve's carpark - a spot especially vulnerable to weeds spread by passing vehicles.

The next working bee is July 5, 10am-12noon, for planting if the soil is wet enough (TBC as dry conditions are forecast).

If too dry for planting, volunteers will monitor previous plantings throughout the reserve.
