Seniors - Bulldogs v Warragul
The Bulldogs showed plenty of intent early
Phillip Island opened their season in front of a massive Easter Saturday crowd at the Kennel. Unfortunately they were overrun by a strong Warragul Industrials outfit, going down by 38 points.
The Bulldogs showed plenty of intent early, matching Warragul around the contest and applying solid pressure.
Despite their effort, they struggled to convert on the scoreboard, finishing with 8.5 (53).
Warragul proved more efficient going forward, capitalising on their opportunities to post 14.7 (91) and take control as the game wore on.
Phillip Island had a number of strong contributors, with Jack Taylor, Jay Ladson, Kai Mackenzie, Mark Griffin, Hayden Bruce and Max Walton all named among the better players.
While the result didn’t fall the Bulldogs' way, there were positive signs for the Bulldogs to build on as they look ahead to the coming rounds.
Final score: Phillip Island 8.5.53 to Warragul Industrials 14.7.91
Best players: Jack Taylor, Jay Ladson, Kai Mackenzie, Mark Griffin, Hayden Bruce and Max Walton.
