Set sail this summer
The Cowes Yacht Club is running a series of events to help introduce people to the joys of sailing.
The Cowes Yacht Club is running a series of events to help introduce people to the joys of sailing.
Its Sail Training and Discover Sailing days are running in December and January, and the different courses cover ages from seven through to adults.
On Thursday December 28, join the Discover Sailing Day and experience sailing free of charge (weather permitting). The session runs from 10am – 2pm and is open to all. Participants get to enjoy a sausage sizzle as well.
Sail Training classes run from January 2 to January 5, with three different levels on offer:
- Tackers 1, 2 & 3 – for beginner junior sailors aged 7 - 12
- Start Sailing 1&2 – for beginner adult and teenage sailors
- Out There Sailing – social and fun sailing experience for teenagers aged 12 – 17
From January 8 to 12, the club is offering Sailing Training.
Better Sailing is designed for intermediate adult and teenage sailors who have completed the Start Sailing class.
The She Sails session is for female adult and teenage sailors.
The final event on January 10 is another Discover Sailing Day from 10am – 2pm and is open to all. The event is weather dependent.
