Bass Coast Shire Council said work is underway on the Sewer Pump station at the Ventnor foreshore.

The work on the sewer pump station at the foreshore toilet block will be carried out by Go Plumb Civil and funded by the council’s building renewal program.

The project involves decommissioning the existing septic tank, pump station and excavation works so a new sewer pump station can be installed.

Temporary amenities will be in place during the work, which is expected to be completed by February 23.

“For safety reasons, the existing amenities will be a construction zone,” the council explained.

“Appropriate traffic and pedestrian measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works.”

The project includes earthworks, saw cutting and delivery trucks, so a degree of noise is expected.

The project budget is $30,000.

Once completed, the council said the functionality of the current toilet block should improve and “prevent any future contamination issues”.
