The largest ever South Gippsland Bass short course team will head to Wangaratta this weekend for the Victorian country short course championships.
The team is hoping to replicate their performance at Wangaratta last January in the long course championships, where they finished in third spot.
56 swimmers, up on the 44 swimmers in the competition last year, will head to Wangaratta to compete in the indoor 25m pool in the 11-18 and Open sections, having met the qualifying times for their events.
Of those swimmers in the under 11s for SGB, there will be five 10-year-olds and ten 11-year-olds.
This is an impressive effort and highlights the depth of the junior program.
There are ten 12-year-olds, many of whom will back it up the weekend after at the state short course championships, with thirteen 18-year-olds competing in a few weeks.
Coach Dylan Muir is looking forward to the event: “Training and competition results so far this season have exceeded expectations and I am excited to see what the atmosphere of a major championship meet adds to our swimmers already great results this season.”
