Shaving fundraiser to support kids with cancer
Newhaven Primary’s shave day was a great success, raising more than $3000.
Newhaven Primary School’s shave day was a great success, raising more than $3000 for Monash Children’s Hospital, Camp Quality and Monkey in My Chair.
The fundraiser on August 21 was for grade 1 student Millie, who is currently bravely fighting cancer with regular visits to Monash Children's Hospital for treatment.
Teachers and students chose to have their heads shaved, hair cut short and even a beard was shaved off.
Hairdressers Chloe and Zoe were both past students at the school, while students were able to purchase bubble wands donated by San Remo Hotel.

The school is continuing to collect donations from the community for this fundraiser.
Money raised went to the three charities listed above, as requested by Millie’s family.
Teacher Robyn Smith said the school was currently being supported by the Monkey in my Chair organisation, a program to help cancer patients like Millie to stay connected to her classmates.
