Free specialised dental care
Latrobe Valley is one of three regions where the government is setting up specialised dental hubs.
The hubs will offer a range of specialised dental care that not all general dentists are able to provide, including in areas such as paediatric dentistry, oral surgical care and treatment for children with special needs.
Children can be referred to these new services through the Smile Squad program, which gives free dental care to government school students throughout Victoria.
Program supports regional leaders driving change
The Leading Australian Resilient Communities (LARC) program will deliver a combination of community forums focused on resilience and response to change; place-based multi-day leadership sessions to identify local challenges, opportunities and what underpins them; as well as webinars; group coaching and support for practical, community-led projects.
Up to 26 leaders in each region will receive scholarships to take part in LARC’s intensive five -day program.

Kids go free to the Melbourne Show
Kids will be able to go to the Melbourne Royal Show and regional shows for free this year.
The funding will be provided directly to Agricultural and Pastoral Societies hosting shows to defray the cost of free entry for kids under the age of 14, at more than 100 rural and regional shows across Victoria.
When the Melbourne Royal Show returns in September for the first time in two years, kids 14 years and younger will receive free entry.
