Have your say on community safety

Engage Victoria has an open consultation to gauge community sentiment about Victoria Police and local safety and priorities.
The survey examines safety at home and in public and asks for input on programs that could be implemented to improve community safety in your local area.
Information provided through the survey is de-identified and individual responses are only recorded for statistical reporting purposes.
The Police Community Sentiment Survey is open until  April 30, at engage.vic.gov.au/annual-victoria-police-community-sentiment-survey-2023

Honour exceptional women in Victoria

Nominations are open for 2023 Victorian Honour Roll of Women, for women in their communities who have made significant and lasting contributions to society.
More than 700 women whose achievements have helped shape Victoria, the nation and the globe have been inducted into the Honour Roll since it began in 2001.
Nominations close May 29. To nominate and see details of past inductees visit vic.gov.au/victorian-honour-roll-women-program.

Put down your mobile phone

New mobile phone and seatbelt detection cameras are now operating across the state to help catch people using their mobile phone and not wearing their seatbelts while driving.
A three-month grace period will apply from the technology’s activation before drivers face infringement and demerit penalties with advisory letters sent.
The new rules will extend current mobile phone laws to cover modern technologies like in-built vehicle systems, mounted devices, wearable devices (such as smartwatches) and portable devices (such as tablets).
For more information on the new road rules, visit vicroads.vic.gov.au/driving distractions.

Have your say on road users’ behaviour

Victorians can have their say on road users’ behaviour as part of a new parliamentary inquiry.
The Legislative Assembly Economy and Infrastructure Committee is welcoming public submissions for its investigation into the impact of road safety behaviours on vulnerable road users.
The inquiry will specifically look at how road users’ behaviour changed during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and how this affected the safety of people most at risk on the road.
Public submissions are open until May 19. For more information on the inquiry, including how to make a submission, go to new.parliament.vic.gov.au/roadsafetybehaviours

Infrastructure consultation

Infrastructure Victoria has an open public consultation to help identify infrastructure needs across the state from 2025 -2055.
Infrastructure Victoria is an independent body which advises the state government how and where infrastructure is needed to support fair access for all.
The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath is encouraging regional Victorians to have their say, saying in the last state budget, regional Victoria only received 13 per cent of infrastructure funding, despite representing 25 per cent of the population.
Consultation closes May 28. Feedback at engage.vic.gov.au/victorias30yearinfrastructurestrategy
