New speed limits could soon be in place in Settlement Road in Silverleaves.
Bass Coast Shire Council has advised it intends to apply to the Department of Transport and Planning to extend the speed limit on Settlement Road (East).
“We will propose that the current 40km/h zone at Silverleaves Estate be extended from Coghlan Road to the Emergency Access Lane,” a council spokesperson said.
“The existing speed is 60km/h from Coghlan Road to Sanders Road and 50km/h from Sanders to the Emergency Access Lane.”
“The proposed adjustment in speed limit aims not only to acknowledge the residents along this stretch of Settlement Road and enhance their quality of life but also to foster a safer environment for pedestrians.
“By aligning the speed limit with the Silverleaves East area, we aim to maintain a consistent and safe speed zone throughout the Estate.
“This change reflects our commitment to prioritising pedestrian movement and ensuring the well-being of all community members.”
