Winner of the Father’s Day raffle, long time member David Garret was thrilled with his apron and $100 voucher from Bowens in Cowes.

The Phillip Island Senior Citizens Club recently hosted a great Father’s Day lunch.

“Our members had a fabulous time entertained by local muso Corza, who had them singing and laughing all through lunch,” said club secretary Liza Lee.

The scrumptious meal cooked by Melva Smith was leek and potato soup followed by traditional roast beef and veg, with butterscotch cake and ice cream for dessert.

During the lunch there were lucky door prizes for the men including two boxes of beer from Green Gully Microbrewery in Cowes, along with other prizes of glasses of wine and chocolates.

The main prize was an apron made by Gwyneth Carvell saying, "men's rules" and a very generous $100 voucher from Bowens Cowes. Long time member David Garret was thrilled to hold the winning ticket and was “over the moon as he always shops at Bowens”.

Upcoming events at the club include: the Gadget Lady and Hot to Trot Fashion show in October; Melbourne Cup by Gippsland enthusiast and a garage sale on Cup weekend in November.

Of course, members won’t want to miss the annual Christmas lunch in December. With great raffle prizes to be won, fabulous Christmas food, and entertainment, it is sure to be a fantastic day.

For any details or to make a booking for upcoming lunches which are on the first Friday of each month, call Liza Lee (Secretary) on 0431 867 058.
