Splash down: whale season kicks off

The whale season has officially started, with what Wildlife Coast Cruises (WCC) said was a "thrilling" experience.

Last week a pod of orcas was sighted off the southern coast of Phillip Island during WCC's seal cruise.

"The pod is suspected to include the well-known individuals Bent Tip and Split Fin, potentially stalking a juvenile humpback whale, offering glimpse into the behaviour of these apex predators," Wildlife Coast Cruise's Ben Dickie said.

"If this is how the season begins, we can't wait to see what comes next."
