Under 11s
A great start to the season with the U11s being the first ever to play on the new courts.
The team captain, Ava Blake scored the first goal for the season. It was a brilliant win against Kilcunda - Bass, 21 – 2.
Under 13s
The Under 13 girls were very excited for their first game representing Phillip Island Netball club in the West Gippsland League.
There was a lot of anticipation, after such a long layoff due to Covid.
The girls started nervous but excited with the first half jitters showing through their rapid passing.
Kilcunda Bass were a strong and challenging side, with the difference in scores hovering between two and three goals for most of the game.
Our girls managed to go into three quarter time with the biggest lead of the day, which proved to be enough in the end, despite the heat taking its toll and Kilcunda Bass mounting a mini comeback late.
The best players awards went to: Matilda Feehan, Jya Donohue and Mia Hughes.
Under 15s
The sun wasn't the only thing scorching today at the first game of the season for the WG 15s Netball team.
Scorers Meika and Lily were relentless under the ring throughout the game and at the defensive end Ruby, Isla and Sienna kept the Kilcunda-Bass girls fighting hard to score. The mid court players
Maya, Hazel, Paige and Isabella fed and intercepted the ball with precision to their teammates to help secure an Island 56 to 11 goal win.
Congratulations to coach Anna on the strong start to the season and to round 1 coach's award winners Meika, Ruby and Hazel.

C Grade
A great way to start the season, with all players, coaches and managers up and about, and especially excited to finally play in a game for points in the West Gippy league after a one year wait.
Coach Jodie Ross had the team firing early, captain Steph Krainer with Chloe Moxey, Bella Ross, Tori Legg, Stephanie James, Alice Chaston, Hayley Moxey, Chloe Kalis and Brooke Blundy, all played a solid game for their first hit out.
Conditions were not very netball like, with very high temperatures, but other than a bit of sunburn everyone survived injury free.
Great to be back in court, but plenty of training and commitment ahead for what will be a big season – the girls are capable of handling anything that will come their way.
Thanks, Killy- Bass for the game and all the best for the season ahead.
Final Score: Philip Island 47 defeated Killy-Bass 9. Best on court: Hayley Moxey, Steph James and Tori Legg.
B Grade
After a long-awaited return to the courts, B grade were raring to go for round one against Killy- Bass.
The girls came out strong, with Emma Felso and Charli Ross using their smarts and quick moves to score 38 goals in the first half of the game.
Kylie Hammond moved into the shooting circle in the second half to add some height and helped contribute to another 41 goals.
Lots of versatility in the mid court with Maddy Taylor, Amber Formosa and Nell Chaston alternating positions throughout the game.
Lucy Vernon and Cassie Stoppa dominated in defence, rebounding any missed goals and bringing the ball down the court with ease.
The girls were so excited to be back on court and this reflected in how they played.
Lots of positives out of the first game for the year, the girls can’t wait to see what they can continue to produce.
We missed having Abby Mccaughan out on court with us, but she will be back from injury very soon!
A big thanks to everyone who helped out leading up to Saturday and made round one possible.
