Last Tuesday, six members of the Phillip Island Croquet Club travelled to Leongatha to compete in the 2024 Bass Coast Shield, an annual event between the croquet clubs of Korumburra, Leongatha, Phillip Island and Wonthaggi.
After a welcoming speech by Leongatha's President, Garry Shandley, the competition commenced.
The games were keenly contested throughout the day with many games finishing level and then having to go to a deciding 13th hoop. By the end of the day the Phillip Island team finished on top by a margin of only one game and was declared the 2024 winner of the Shield, with Wonthaggi the runners up.
Congratulations to the Phillip Island and Wonthaggi teams, and to all the teams taking part.
