Killy Bass Juniors fight it out against Island Blue

U14

Great conditions down at Bass, the boys faced off against another top four team in Phillip Island Blue.

The first quarter was a great hit out with back-and-forth football, seeing the Island going into quarter time with a one goal lead.

The second and third quarter was much the same with some great passages of play.

Heading into the last trailing by 15 points, the boys ran out of legs with the Island kicking three consecutive goals to finish the game.

A great effort and the team are improving every week.

Keep up the great work.

Best: Justin Braumann-Hall, Sebastien Rennie, Jackson Henderson, Brady Van Steensel and Noah Margrie.

U12

A truly gutsy performance by the Kilcunda Bass U12s on Sunday, showing heart and determination against a much bigger and physically stronger Phillip Island outfit.

Despite being undermanned due to illness and injury, the team never gave up and kept the contest alive right until the final siren.

Led brilliantly by captain Lerah, who set the tone with her physicality and never-say-die attitude, the kids stood tall under pressure.

Max was a standout in defence, using his pace and game sense to turn back wave after wave of Phillip Island attacks.

The team’s leadership group stepped up in style, with Miles, Bailey, Alfie and Chaze all putting in terrific efforts across the ground.

Bailey Pool provided the scoreboard highlights, slotting both of Kilcunda Bass’s goals with confidence.

While the scoreboard didn’t fall in our favour, the spirit and fight shown by every player was something to be proud of.

The kids matched it with a tough opponent and never backed down, a true credit to their character and commitment.

Final Score: Phillip Island: 4.7 (31) to Kilcunda Bass: 2.3 (15).

Goals: Bailey Pool 2.

Best Players: Lerah Schonewille, Miles Leary, Bailey Pool, Alfie Russo, Max Milner and Chaze Poulton.

Awards: Darby Quinlan, Max Milner, Coby Dobson, Alfie Russo and Maverick Loughridge.

Well done to all the players, your bravery, teamwork and effort were nothing short of inspiring.

U10

The kids played so well and fought hard all day.

Killy Bass held Phillip Island Blue scoreless until the second quarter and the game was pretty even the whole way through.

In the last quarter the kids finally got some reward for effort with Bentleigh Frith kicking two goals, they were super proud.

The team will enjoy the long weekend break and be back together the following week to play Leongatha.
