Reserves
The Reserves entered this contest this week against another team with impressive percentage showing obvious depth.
A strong NNG outfit awaited, and it was expected to be a tough one for the home team.
Pre-game was highlighted by the inclusion of Dean ‘the General’ Blake back in the team, and Kev Taylor unretiring for another trot.
The white Breast Cancer Foundation ball beckoned for the game, with stand-in umpire Damo in yellow for another run.
In a not unexpected outcome, the visitors show tremendous strength and poise with the ball, amassing a 37-12 first quarter from which point the Bulldogs were unable to fully recover.
The second was an even affair, with a standout performance from new ruckman Saxon Mau of particular note in only his third game for the Bulldogs.
At half time, some hope beckoned, with a 57-31 margin not looking that insurmountable.
The third saw the game continue to be reasonably tight, with Leon Matthews and Will Macrokanis leading the Bulldogs in their best games to date for the club.
Noah Bee-Hickman showed his class in the middle, but the visitors were able to match the Doggies in most areas, kicking three goals to two and heading in the last stanza with a 79-45 lead.
In the last, the depth and fitness of the visitors showed as they took complete control with an eight-goal blitz.
Dean Blake was tireless, and Jack Opitz tried hard against the onslaught, but the tide was too strong and the NNG boys ran out victors 131-51.
