Bulldogs’ offensive talent on display against Garfield
3 min read

Seniors

Phillip Island displayed a masterclass in their game against Garfield, securing a decisive 71-point victory.

From the outset the Island dominated, slamming on eight goals in the first quarter, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

In an exciting day for the club the U10 Bulldogs teams attended the pre-game meetings and warmups with the Seniors and ran out onto the ground.

A big thank you to all the parents who delayed their long weekend festivities to make this such a special day.

The backline, controlled impeccably by Daniel Pearce, Mark Griffin and Jesse Patullo was rock-solid repelling numerous Garfield attacks.

This allowed the young brigade of Yianni Caffieri, Cooper Walton and Zac Walker to play with increasing confidence and poise, demonstrating their growing maturity with each game.

In the midfield, the Bruce brothers, Max Walton, Jaymie Youle and Daniel Bourke were unstoppable, dominating the clearances and providing relentless drive through the middle of the ground.

Their control in the midfield laid the foundation for Phillip Island's commanding performance.

Travis "Turbo" Woodfield was electrifying, displaying renewed energy as he kicked a couple of goals, including one spectacular effort that left the crowd in awe.

Additionally, Jay Ladson made a memorable debut, slotting a classy snap from 45 meters out further thrilling the home fans.

Phillip Island's offensive prowess was on full display throughout the game, although they will need to work on their goal kicking slotting 16 goals and 16 points could have made the win even more convincing.

With this dominant performance, Phillip Island has sent a clear message to the rest of the league that they are a formidable force and ready for the challenges ahead.

They are primed for the big clash against Tooradin next week, a big day that will feature the 2014 senior premiership reunion, the old Doggies (Veterans) match following the Seniors and the club's $3000 reverse draw.

Connor Thompson brought his own ball to the game and was prolific in the first quarter looking a cut above.

Kirby Fuller and Tyce Kleverkamp continued their terrific form.

In a feel-good story, the return of Alex Duyker after his ACL last year, took command of the game kicking 4.3 and at times brought teammates into the game.

Duyker has been a main stay in the Bulldogs' lineup for many years and looks set to be pushing for selection as his confidence and fitness grows.
