Step outside and age well
The Step Outside, Move Your Way webpage has over 60 walks and trails to get you moving across Bass Coast and South Gippsland, including many short walks, like this one Liz is enjoying on Churchill Island.

Enjoying the great outdoors is an easy way to remain active as you get older.

“Moving more not only benefits your physical health, but it can also help you to be more socially connected and improve your mental health and wellbeing,” said Rebecca Scott, Prevention Manager from South Coast Primary and Community Partnership.

“Mental health is just as important as physical health. If you move more, you’ll feel good, sleep better and stay well.”

Here are some tips to step outside more:

  • Start slow and get a little more active each day. Do what you can; even a short walk has health benefits
  • Involve friends and family to keep you motivated
  • Join a group to keep it fun and social
  • Walk wherever and whenever you can
  • Stay motivated by planning for regular outdoor exercise
  • Looking for inspiration?
