Students at San Remo Primary school have proven that you're never too young to save a life.

In partnership with Skills for Life training, every student from Prep through to Grade 6 recently took part in an engaging and hands on life saving skills program equipping them with the confidence and knowledge to respond in real emergency situations.

"It was a great opportunity for students when Kylie Wookey and Amy McHenry from Skills for Life came to our school and did First Aid with all classes in our school," said Principal Karen Bowker.

Across the school, students embraced the opportunity to learn vital first aid skills that could one day make all the difference.

From performing CPR and placing someone in the recovery position, to learning how to call for help, control bleeding, apply bandages, and respond to snake bites, each student walked away with practical skills they can use to help others.

"What stood out most was not just the skills learned, but the enthusiasm and determination shown by the students," said Ms Bowker.

"Whether it was the youngest learners confidently practicing how to dial for help, or senior students mastering CPR techniques, every child rose to the challenge proving themselves to be true everyday heroes.

"Programs like this highlight the power of community working together.

By partnering with local organisations, schools like San Remo Primary are helping to build safer, more prepared communities where even the youngest members are empowered to act in an emergency.

"In regional and coastal areas especially, knowing how to respond quickly can be critical in saving a life whether it's a family member, a friend, or a fellow community member."

Ms Bowker said the impact of this training extends far beyond the classroom.

"These students are now equipped with life saving knowledge that could one day protect the people around them.

It's a powerful reminder that education is not just about academics. It's about preparing young people for real life," she said.

"San Remo Primary School and Skills for Life Training are setting an incredible example, and it's one other schools should take note of.

Giving students the tools to save lives is one of the most valuable lessons we can offer and as these young heroes have shown, they are more than ready to step up when it matters most."
