With the official start of summer less than a week away, surf life saving patrols have returned to Phillip Island.
From November 28 until Christmas Day, patrols at Woolamai will run from 1pm – 4.30pm on Saturdays and 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sundays.
Public holiday patrols will run from 10.30am – 4.30pm.
Patrols will also run at Smiths Beach based on the availability of volunteers.
Riley Fyffe from the Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club said patrol dates after Christmas were yet to be confirmed, as rules and regulations continued to change.
He urged swimmers to take care in the water.
“Woolamai Beach is surf for experienced bathers only,” Riley said.
“The waves are usually large, the rips and currents strong and close inshore. Stay between the flags at all times and avoid the rips.
“Swimming is not recommended outside of patrol hours.”
